About Family Tree Research Secrets

My name is Jeff Kona.  I have been a family history enthusiast all my life.  I have been motivated to learn about my own family history since I was a child.    My story is a bit unique because I was adopted as an infant, yet my parents never hid that fact from me (and I’m grateful for that).   My adopted parents had their own unique family history (famous author, extremely successful & famous entrepreneurs, TV show based on the author’s books, pilgrims on the Mayflower, expert martial artists, etc.).

So I learned about the importance of genealogy and family history from my adopted parents.   And as a child growing up I always wondered about my “biological” family and ancestry since I knew so much about my adopted family’s history.  Finally, during my college years, my research paid off and I met my birth mother and later, my birth father.  From there I continued to research about my “new” family history, learning all along the journey.

As a result, later as an adult I worked with a team of writers to put together a course called,

“Who’s In Your Tree? How to Research and Create Your Own Unique Family Tree”.

Because of this research and work, I decided to put together this website with free genealogy lessons, as well as a free genealogy email mini course.

You see, I’m not a professional writer or a professional genealogist.  I’m just a normal everyday guy with a 9 to 5 job, but a passion to learn about my own family history and a desire to help others to do the same.  I love the excitement I have felt as I learned how I am related to famous people in history, pilgrims on the Mayflower – and even some royalty!  I love how that information changed how I felt about my own family and what I shared with my own children about their ancestry.  I want to share that same feeling of excitement and joy of discovery with anyone else who wants to learn about their own family history.

I hope you will join the countless numbers of other amateur genealogists like me who love learning about their family history!

Wishing you all the best!
